PES, Saint Louis University collaborate on regional conference in Baguio City

The Philippine Economic Society (PES) and Saint Louis University (SLU) jointly organized a Regional Economic-Finance Conference and Learning Session on 05 July 2019 at SLU Maryheights Campus, Baguio City.

The conference focused on the theme, “Responsible Stewardship over Financial and Economic Resources,” and featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Alvin Ang of the Ateneo de Manila University (and former PES President) which delved on the importance of an economic way of thinking in making financial decisions.

PES Board elects officers for 2019

The Philippine Economic Society (PES) Board of Trustees elected its new set of officers for this year on 7 January 2019. The Board elected the following:

  • President: Dr. Lawrence B. Dacuycuy, De La Salle University
  • Vice President: Mr. Emilio S. Neri, Jr., Bank of the Philippine Islands
  • Secretary: Dr. Charlotte Justine Diokno-Sicat, Philippine Institute for Development Studies

PES hosts annual conference of FAEA

The Philippine Economic Society (PES) hosted the 43rd Annual Conference of the Federation of ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA) on 9-10 November 2018 at the Novotel Manila.

The conference theme, “Growing ASEAN: Cooperation and Competition Amidst Disruption,” tackles how the ASEAN region can overcome various forms of disruptions in realizing the agenda of the ASEAN Economic Community.

PES conducts its 56th annual meeting, conference

More than 300 economists and allied professionals attended the 56th Annual Meeting and Conference of the Philippine Economic Society on 8 November 2018 at the Novotel Manila, Araneta Center, Quezon City, with the theme, “Towards a High Growth Economy in the ASEAN: Managing Expectations, Creating Policy Spaces, and Sustaining Reforms.” 

This year’s conference theme focused on how the Philippines can sustain high growth without overheating; implement reforms that can promote competitiveness, growth and development; and manage evolving expectations of stakeholders.

PES spearheads trainings on forecasting, data analysis

More than 40 trainees coming from the academe, the government, and the private sector participated in two pre-conference training workshops organized by the Philippine Economic Society (PES) on 7 November 2018 at the Novotel Manila, Quezon City.

Participants came not only from Metro Manila but also from as far as the Ilocos Region, CALABARZON, Eastern Visayas, and Northern Mindanao.
