Progressing Toward a Shared ASEAN Future: The Role of Innovation, Institutions, and Inclusive Markets

14 November 2026 | Novotel Manila Araneta City, Quezon City, Philippines

As ASEAN navigates shifting global dynamics, rapid technological change, and evolving development challenges, the Philippines' ASEAN 2026 Chairship emphasizes the importance of collective resilience and shared progress. In line with this vision, the FAEA Conference 2026 invites submissions that examine the foundations of sustainable and equitable growth across the region.

This year’s conference focuses on three interrelated pillars shaping ASEAN’s development trajectory:

  1. Innovation and Economic Transformation — Innovation is central to ASEAN’s ongoing economic transformation. Digitalization, green technologies, and emerging business models are reshaping industries and labor markets. However, disparities in access to technology, infrastructure, and capabilities risk widening development gaps.
  2. Institutions and Governance — Strong institutions play a critical role in shaping economic incentives, enabling investment, and fostering development. ASEAN’s institutional diversity presents both opportunities for learning and coordination challenges. In an era marked by uncertainty and pressures on the rules-based international order, institutional resilience and adaptability are increasingly important.
  3. Inclusive Markets and Shared Prosperity — Ensuring that economic growth translates into shared prosperity remains a key challenge. Market structures, financial systems, and social protection mechanisms all influence the distribution of economic gains. Policies that expand opportunity while protecting vulnerable groups are essential to building inclusive economies.

The 49th Annual Conference of the Federation of ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA) will be held back-to-back with the 64th Annual Meeting and Conference of the Philippine Economic Society (PES), which will be held on 13 November 2026 at Novotel Manila. For more information on the 64th PES Conference, please visit this link: https://economicsph.org/pes64
