Job Duties
Under broad direction of the Governing Board, President, and/or other senior management officials:
- Undertake analytical and quantitative policy-oriented works and propose policy recommendations on study topics related to deepening economic integration, narrowing development gaps, and sustainable development in East Asia.
- Manage policy-oriented research projects undertaken by economists and consultants contracted by ERIA.
- Liaise with governments, business representatives, and international organisations in East Asia and beyond.
- Attend meetings and symposiums, and represent ERIA as needed.
- Give lectures to the government officials.
- Supervise subordinate staff as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the ERIA President and/or other senior management officials.
Qualifications
1. Education and experience
- (must) Ph.D in Energy Economics or other related fields.
- (must) 5 years’ experience in the Energy fields or equivalent that can be proven by the record of articles published in professional or academic journals, edited volumes, and/or other major publications.
- (preferable) Knowledge of and research experience in Southeast Asia, East Asia, and South Asia are strongly preferred.
- (preferable) Experience of conducting projects related to energy fields are preferred.
- (preferable) Knowledge or Expertise about Energy Transitions in ASEAN region is strongly preferred.
- (preferable) Knowledge or Expertise in the field of carbon credit is preferred.
2. Language requirements
- High proficiency in oral and written English.
Working Location & Conditions
1. Salary and benefits
- Depending on the candidate’s degree and experience, salary will be US$72,000–US$110,000 per year, excluding housing and child education allowances.

2. Term
- 1-year fixed-term appointment in principle, renewable upon reappointment by the President, depending on performance and continuation of the Economist’s project(s).
