The Philippine Economic Society (PES) participated in the 45th Annual Conference of the Federation of ASEAN Economic Associations (FAEA) held at the International Convention Center in Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, Vietnam on 25-26 November 2022.

The theme of the conference, organized by the Vietnam Economic Association (VEA), was "Economic Recovery and Growth in ASEAN Countries After the COVID-19 Pandemic and Response Strategies in the Context of Great Changes in the International Economy."

Every year, the host country of the FAEA Conference sponsors the participation of at least two economists from each FAEA member country as nominated by its respective economic association. For this year's conference, the VEA sponsored the participation of two paper presenters nominated by the PES: Ederliza V. Magpantay of the University of Santo Tomas and Rutcher M. Lacaza of the University of the Philippines School of Statistics.

Magpantay presented the paper, “International  Cross-sectional Examination of the Existence of the Environmental Kuznets Curve,” while Lacaza presented on "Effects of Cigarette Tax Increases on Cigarette Consumption and Tax Revenue for the Philippines."

Meanwhile, the PES was represented in the FAEA Executive Committee Meeting by its Treasurer, Dr. Kevin C. Chua and its Trustee, Dr. Jovi C. Dacanay.

The next annual conference of FAEA will be hosted by the Indonesia Economic Association in 2023.
