Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Familiarize with the basic features and environment of Stata;
  • Harmonize data from the data editor function of Stata;
  • Run basic statistical analysis in Stata, such as descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing and graphics;
  • Apply and implement several econometric models in Stata; and
  • Operationalize and automate certain steps in the process.

    Note: For the asynchronous sessions, video demonstrations will be provided via a Google Drive link that is open to all participants. The video recording of the synchronous sessions will also be made available in the Google Drive.

    Mr. Brian Irvyn Chan

    Mr. Brian Irvyn Chan is currently a Lecturer at the School of Economics of De La Salle University (DLSU)-Manila and a Research Associate for an industry study under the DLSU Angelo King Institute for Business and Economic Studies. He has just recently completed his Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Economics last June 2021 from the same university, with his master’s degree thesis discussing the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on airline ticket factors and the air transport and tourism industry in the Philippines. His recent research stints include two research assistantships on the garments and textile industry, and input-output modelling and economics of natural disasters.
